Résumé : | For the past decade there has been an intensive international effort to characterize the genomes of several species of plants and animals. As the mapping and sequencing of genes has progressed, scientists have turned their attention to functional genomics, the characterization of gene expression. Recently a number of laboratories around the world have begun to focus their investigations on the temporal and spatial pattern of gene expression in the early phases of farm animal and human embryo development, an event of utmost importance for the survival and developmental well-being of the embryo. In an agricultural context, this s a critical factor determining reproductive success. This book contains the proceedings of a conference which brought together a group of internationally recognized scientists in the genomics field. The objective was to coordinate activities in the area of embryo genomics and create a number of collaborations dedicated to organizing the huge amount of information being generated in this emerging field of research. This information is and will continue to be crucial for most biotechnological applications in the field of animal reproduction. This book contains the proceedings of the first International Meeting on Mammalian Embryo Genomics, held in Quebec City, Canada, on July 20 2002. |
