Résumé : | Yeu Island, located in the Vendée (85) in the Pays de la Loire region, is one of the fifteen Ponant islands. Following a request from the agricultural collective to quantify the freshwater resources available on the island in order to increase its agricultural potential, a campaign to acquire hydrogeological and geophysical data was carried out by two pairs of geological engineering students. The geology of the island reveals a significant groundwater resource. The island's agricultural collective is seeking to find out whether the island's groundwater capacity is sufficient to accommodate new farmers without increasing dependence on the mainland and getting closer to a model from the 1960s when wells were sufficient to meet the water needs of the inhabitants. The expectations of the municipality lead us to ask the following questions: What is the quality of the water found underground? In what type of water table is it found? What is its volume? To answer these questions, we took water samples from the wells and took conductivity and temperature measurements and carried out geophysical profiles during a field campaign from 31 August to 13 September 2020. The various techniques used, such as piezometric measurements, electrical tomography, and ion chromatography profiles, will make it possible to answer these questions during the second half of the year. |
