Résumé : | The island of Yeu is located on the Atlantic coast of the Vendée. A member of the Ponant islands, it is today supplied with drinking water by the continent. In the past, the inhabitants of the island used the freshwater resource present on the island via wells builts with the help of dowsers of the time. This water resource has been gradually abandoned by the island, the residences being mostly second homes, the inhabitants find less interest in exploiting it. Today, water consumption on the island has increased sharply, especially during the summer period when the island welcomes a remarkable number of tourists that increases over the years. In addition, climate change is being felt on the island with longer periods of drought. This over-consumption associated with climate change does not help new farmers as well as those already operating on the island. This water shortage is already being felt and is likely to increase over time. This is where the island's CDA (Committee for the Development of Agriculture) comes in. Aware of this problem, the CDA has decided to conduct a hydrogeological study in partnership with UniLaSalle, in order to probe the island's water resources so that it can be used for crops. The following study will therefore serve to characterize this resource across the island to understand its functioning, access its quality and accessibility. The fieldwork that was carried out on the island was divided between two pairs who prospected on two parts of the island. For the purpose, a census of communal and private wells was organized. Water samples were taken, in situ measurements were made and geophysical campaigns were conducted. Their full interpretation is in the following report. |
