Résumé : | This research essay introduces a sedimentology study of Motta turbiditic geometry of the Miocene in Calabria, Italy. The study area stretches for 1.2 km along the road that connects Lazzaro to Motta San Giovanni. The aim of this research is to study turbidite geometries to interpret the dynamics of deposits in this zone. For this, a total of 27 log, gamma-ray acquisitions with an SGR, and the study of thin-sections of samples were performed. The results make it possible to define five patterns inscribed in a channel-levee system. Facies encountered have gamma-ray values between 90 and 200 API. These values are caused by the presence of feldspaths, micas, soft clasts and organic matter in the facies. Finally, the mineralogical and morphological variations of the grains in thin section along the section suggest several sedimentary sources |
