Résumé : | Delos is a Greek island, located in the center of the Cyclades. Known for its ruins and Apollo's shrine, Delos Island has been the subject of numerous archaeological studies during the past century. However, only few geological works have been performed. Indeed, one extensive study was realized by CAYEUX in 1911, in which he edited the first Delos geological map, and described the metamorphic, magmatic and sedimentary facies of the island. The second detailed study was done in 1999 by LUCAS who focused on Delos, Mykonos and Rhenia's granitic pluton. The main objective of our project is the mapping of Delos, based on the identification and description of its various facies. A case study on Delos' ancient quarry will be presented as well. First of all, a bibliographic review, based on the literatures of CAYEUX (1911) and LUCAS (1999) will be presented in our report to introduce and describe the existing rocks in Delos, understand their formation, and analyze the geodynamic evolution of the area. Some microscopic and tectonic analyses will be done to fine-tune the geological mapping and better understand the geological history of the area. Then, this bibliographic review will be compared to datas collected during our field trip in Delos (tectonic features measurement, rocks diagnoses, tools prints in quarries) in order to complete and verify our interpretations. |
