Résumé : | Developments in poultry science continue at an ever increasing rate. In parallel, poultry production has, from comparatively humble beginnings, little more than 50 years ago, emerged to become one of the World's major livestock enterprises with consumption of poultry meat and eggs increasing in virtually every country. Accordingly it is crucial that those involved in all aspects of the industry are kept informed of relevant issues. This volume brings together in one cover all those recent papers that considered various aspects of poultry science and production at the annual University of Nottingham Feed Manufacturers' Conferences. A major objective of the conferences is to emphasise scientific principles whilst at the same time providing a crucial link with more practical and commercial environments. As such, this volume will have a wide-ranging appeal from science through to practice; research workers, teachers, students, advisory personnel and consultants should all find much of interest within this collection. Contents : Protein quality and amino acid utilisation o Amino acid profiles o Implications of an immune response on growth and nutrient requirements of chicks o Nutrition and growth of fat and lean broiler genotypes o Recent findings on the effects of nutrition on the growth of specific broiler carcass components o Diet and leg weakness in poultry o Nutritional management of broiler programmes * Hock burn in broilers o The nutritive value of wheat and its effect on broiler performance o Developments in the nutritional value of wheat for non-ruminants o Ascites and related metabolic diseases o Ascites in broilers o Feeding the male turkey o Nutrition and carcass quality in ducks o Rearing the laying pullet o Manipulation of the nutritional value of eggs o Effects of different factors including enzymes on the nutritional value of fats * Phosphorus nutrition of poultry o Water requirements o The use of enzymes to improve the nutritive value of poultry feeds o Index |
